Morgan Carter

Special guest

Dr. Morgan Carter is finishing a USDA Predoctoral Fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Adam Bogdanove and will be moving to the University of Arizona for a postdoctoral position. After getting a B.S. in biochemistry from North Carolina State University in 2014, she decided to pursue her Ph.D. in plant pathology to focus on science that translates from the lab to the field. Her research interests include finding new ways to reduce plant disease by learning how microbes and hosts interact at the molecular level. She wants to make agriculture more sustainable by leveraging technologies, like gene editing, for crop improvement and encouraging scientists to advocate for evidence-based policy. She currently serves on the Public Policy Board of the American Phytopathological Society.
